Visualization of the New Headquarters for University Humanities
The building will have three floors and nearly 9,500 square meters of usable space. It will include, among other things, a modular auditorium with 300 seats. On the first floor, it will be connected by an elevated walkway to the nearby University Library.
Construction of the new humanities building on Ciołkowskiego Street has already begun. The investment is scheduled for completion by the end of 2025. The new facility will house the Faculty of Philology, the Faculty of History, the Faculty of Philosophy, the Faculty of Cultural Studies, as well as the Center for Practical Foreign Language Learning.
These units currently employ over 200 staff members. Nearly 1,400 students study in the humanities faculties, along with almost 60 doctoral candidates. The campus on Ciołkowskiego Street is the largest investment in the history of the University of Białystok. The first stage of campus construction was completed in 2014, resulting in the creation of buildings for the current Faculties of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, and Computer Science. The campus also hosts the University Nature Center, the University Computing Center, and the University Cultural Center. The next step was the construction of the Observatory and Planetarium building, completed in 2020. A year later, the new University Library building was also finished.
