The Faculty of Philosophy and Cognitive Science at the University of Białystok, established in 2019, emerged from the division of the former Faculty of History and Sociology. Despite its recent inception, it builds upon the university's longstanding philosophical traditions while embracing contemporary research areas in mind and cognition. The faculty comprises two main departments: the Department of Philosophy and Ethics, and the Department of Logic, Cognitive Science, and Philosophy of Science. This structure fosters interdisciplinary collaboration, integrating classical philosophical inquiry with modern cognitive studies.

The faculty offers a diverse range of academic programs designed to equip students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Undergraduate and graduate courses include Philosophy, Cognitive Science and Communication, and the interdisciplinary program Philosophy, Politics, and Economics. These programs are tailored to meet the evolving demands of the academic and professional landscapes, preparing graduates for careers in education, research, public policy, and beyond. The curriculum emphasizes critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and effective communication, essential competencies in today's complex world.

The Faculty of Philosophy and Cognitive Science at the University of Białystok actively engages in research and scholarly activities. It publishes the academic journal “Studies in Logic, Grammar and Rhetoric”, a peer-reviewed, open-access publication indexed in major databases. The faculty also hosts events like open days and workshops, fostering a vibrant intellectual community and encouraging public engagement with philosophical and cognitive topics. Furthermore, since early 2024, the University of Białystok has been a participating member of the Baltic University Programme (BUP), one of the largest international academic networks in the Baltic Sea region. This affiliation offers students and staff opportunities to participate in scientific events, joint research projects, and student exchanges, enhancing the university's international collaboration and academic development.
